Cute baby animals bring visitors to zoos and aquariums. What happens when they grow up?
арбитраж трафика тг
One of the best things that can happen to a zoo or aquarium is for one of their resident animals to go viral.
Just look at the multi-hour-long lines to see Moo Deng, a pygmy hippo in Thailand who has become an internet sensation following her July 2024 birth. The sassy animal is now a full-on brand, with Khao Kheow Open Zoo selling Moo Deng merchandise and even releasing a single “by” the hippo in multiple languages.
Meanwhile, Pesto — a baby king penguin who was eating more fish than his parents by the time he was a few weeks old — is also an online celebrity, with human stars like Olivia Rodrigo and Katy Perry stopping by to meet him.
But what happens when these cute animals become, well, less cute? The Sea Life Melbourne aquarium has already been planning for the next phase of Pesto’s life — and answering questions from the public about his changing appearance.
It’s normal for king penguins to lose their feathers by the time they’re about a year old and become confident swimmers. As a result, a spokesperson for the aquarium says, guests have started asking why Pesto looks different — or why they can’t find him at all.
“We are getting a few guests thinking we have moved him off display completely,” says the spokesperson. “Most of the team’s time is spent pointing him out to guests because he looks so different now.”
The bottom line is that cute baby animals make money.
Admission tickets are only the beginning. Many zoos and aquariums offer special “behind the scenes” or “zookeeper for a day” packages at much higher prices. At Sea Life Melbourne, standard entry tickets for adults start at $51, while the Penguin Passport — which include a 45-minute tour of the birds’ area and a look at how their food is prepared — is $199.
The real jackpot, though, is merchandise. Stuffed animals, T-shirts, fridge magnets, keychains, kids’ books and other branded products are a major way for zoos and aquariums to make money.

Astronomers briefly thought Elon Musk’s car was an asteroid. Here’s why that points to a broader problem
skraken зеркало
Seven years after SpaceX launched Elon Musk’s cherry red sports car into orbit around our sun, astronomers unwittingly began paying attention to its movements once again.
Observers spotted and correctly identified the vehicle as it started its extraterrestrial excursion in February 2018 — after it had blasted off into space during the Falcon Heavy rocket’s splashy maiden launch. But more recently, the car spawned a high-profile case of mistaken identity as space observers mistook it for an asteroid.
Several observations of the vehicle, gathered by sweeping surveys of the night sky, were inadvertently stashed away in a database meant for miscellaneous and unknown objects, according to the International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center.
An amateur astronomer noticed a string of data points in January that appeared to fit together, describing the orbit of a relatively small object that was swooping between the orbital paths of Earth and Mars.
The citizen scientist assumed the mystery object was an undocumented asteroid and promptly sent his findings to the MPC, which operates at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as a clearinghouse that seeks to catalog all known asteroids, comets and other small celestial bodies. An astronomer there verified the finding.
And thus, the Minor Planet Center logged a new object, asteroid “2018 CN41.”
Within 24 hours, however, the center retracted the designation.
The person who originally flagged the object realized their own error, MPC astronomer Peter Veres told CNN, noticing that they had, in fact, found several uncorrelated observations of Musk’s car. And the center’s systems hadn’t caught the error.

Think yourself standing on the deck of a vessel, a cool breeze fumbling with your hair, and around you opening up an boundless horizon, where the waves mixes with the air. There is no bustle of cities, no buzz of cars, just you and landscape in its pristine beauty. Renting a yacht is not just a journey, it is an chance to perceive absolute freedom of action and a deep bond with the surrounding world, which is difficult to obtain in daily life. Why not perform this step immediately?
Freedom is what is so lacking in the today’s woman, trapped in timetables, obligations and continuous notifications. When you lease a yacht, you become the captain of your path. Want to go to a private beach where no one bothers your seclusion? Please! Want to explore concealed bays and islands that only native fishermen know about? Easy! No established routes, no obstacles — just you and your wishes. You can wake up at dawn to see the sun tingeing the water in bright hues, or pass the day swimming among marine reefs abundant in life. Hiring a motorboat gives you freedom, allowing you to experience as free as the wind that drives the sails.
But autonomy is only one side of the medal. The other is a deep link with wildlife that cannot be known while sitting in an office or strolling on pavement. Depths is a breathing organism that murmurs, reveals and sometimes confronts. Heeding the sound of the waves, feeling the salty air and admiring the movement of the dolphins, you begin to grasp how insignificant our ordinary bustle is compared to the magnitude of nature. Yacht becomes your passage into this world: you can drop anchor in the middle of the abyss, to admire the stars that seem more accessible than ever, or plan a picnic on the deck, surrounded only by the melodies of nature.
Hiring a motorboat suits not only solo travelers craving personal peace, but also for those who appreciate socializing. See this: you with mates or household venturing on a journey, recounting stories under the cosmos, playing tabletop games on the deck, or simply appreciating the silence together. Boat becomes your exclusive refuge, where there is no room for dreary routines or external distractions. You can plan a intimate dinner at sunset, gazing at as the sky turns into a palette of reddish and purple shades, or organize a exciting party with music and moves under the starlit sky. Every moment on the motorboat is a opportunity to create moments that will reassure you for many years.
Of course, chartering a yacht is also an opportunity to enjoy luxury. Modern yachts are outfitted with all the needed: from ample cabins and kitchens to spas and diversion systems. You can think like you’re at a elite resort, but with the boon of full mobility. Want to stop in a place where there isn’t a single accommodation? No problem! A yacht will deliver you where no vehicle or craft can reach. This feeling of exclusivity and independence makes hiring a vessel a singular experience that cannot be matched with anything else.
But the most crucial thing is that renting a vessel is available to anyone who dreams of autonomy and excursions. You don’t have to be an experienced sailor — skilled crews and simple vessels will make your journey safe and pleasant. You can decide on a boat of any capacity and level: from compact models for partners to sumptuous vessels for large groups. The process of renting is straightforward: just outline your needs, select a route, and trust the professionals. In just a few days, you will be able to rest on the deck, noticing your heart beat in rhythm with the rolls.
Don’t defer your hopes for later. Complete freedom of action and genuine unity with the environment are waiting for you. Rent a ship immediately and uncover a world where there are no constraints except those you set yourself. Depths calls — reply its whisper, and you will see what genuine self-determination is. It’s not just a expedition, it’s a way of life that encourages, revitalizes, and imbues with significance. Start the first step — and let the wind transport you to where dreams become fact!
Complete freedom of action and deep unity with nature!
